I like Claussen pickles (they are found refrigerated section of the supermarket). What I like even better is reusing the brine with fresh cucumber slices. By not cooking the cucumbers they remain crisp and because of their moisture content, they dilute the brine a bit, yet not too much. I usually leave them in an hour or more and shake the jar a bit to let them change position.
So for the cost of another cucumber or two, you get a few jars of pickles. You can add a bit of salt or vinnegar if you wish, but I like the less than overpowering dill flavor at times.
